the vegetable gardener. They attract beneficial critters that eat all the nasty one's like aphids. They also attract bees and other pollinators that help enhance crop productivity.
Finally, if planted near tomato plants their strong fragerance masks the almost equally strong smell of the tomatoes and bugs that destroy the fruit will normally be greatly reduced.

You don't have to like them but do take advantage of their beneficial side effects....
